Widening the Circle – WNPJ Virtual Conversation with Debra Gillispie – June 9
Widening the Circle monthly conversations with the WI Network for Peace and Justice
…..will begin on Tuesday, June 9 at 4:30 pm
Our first discussion will be based on a Maya Angelou quote: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
It will be hosted by Debra Gillispie, founder of Milwaukee’s Mothers against Gun Violence and WNPJ Board member.

Given the current erosion of voting rights and the broader implications for Black communities and democracy as a whole, we will use this time to inform, educate and recruit more people into the battle to save all of our rights.
Silence, disengagement, and selective advocacy affect survivors and marginalized communities directly—not only politically, but emotionally and culturally as well. We can move from awareness to authentic action that is impactful and transformative. While Maya Angelou’s quote is directed at “you” we envision it as a welcome to “we”.
These monthly Widening the Circle zooms offer an opportunity to create honest, healing, challenging, and community-centered spaces that encourage accountability and collective action that is deeply needed now. We welcome your input, suggestions and co-creation. We plan to meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 4:30 – 5:30 pm. Each conversation will be recorded and shared.
