- MLK Free Community Dinner. Friday, January 16, 4:30 – 7:00 PM | Gordon Dining & Event Center, 770 W. Dayton St. Kick-off the King Holiday weekend with fellowship and the annual MLK Free Community Dinner. Dinner served buffet style will include fried and baked chicken, mac n’ cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, sweet potato pie, and more. Join us and share a wonderful meal with friends, old and new, in Dr. King’s spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood!
- Families for Justice Martin Luther King Day Event, Monday, January 19th, 10am – 12:30pm Linden Co-Housing. Join Families for Justice for a morning of connection and engagement to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the fight for racial justice and against white supremacy and anti-Blackness. This year we will explore how inequality and racism show up in our community, at school and in our country. We will have age-based learning groups and even a separate learning/engagement opportunity for adults! Together we’ll learn, discuss, play, rest, and reach. Under the powerful theme “The Power of Unity,” the 2026 event stands as a testament to Wisconsin’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity. We are proud to continue our annual celebration of Dr. King’s life and legacy in words and music, featuring Chicago’s Victory Travelers Gospel Group, Dr. Brianna Ware-Boggs, violinist, news analyst Ahmed Baba as guest speaker, the presentation of the MLK Heritage Awards and more. Also broadcast live on Wisconsin Public Radio and Wisconsin PBS.
- 41st Annual Madison & Dane County MLK Day Observance – Monday, Jan 19, 5:15 pm Overture Center for the Arts: Martin Luther King Jr. Coalition of Madison & Dane County annual event, with freedom songs sing-along 5:15 pm, program 6 pm with keynote by Marc Lamont Hill, MLK Community Choir, and MLK Humanitarian Awards.(Attend two rehearsals to join the Community Choir!
