Can’t make that event? On Thursday July 16^th at 11am there will be a Standing Up for Human Dignity rally at the City-County Building. The first information about the upcoming Dane County Budget sets up a conflict between human services and law enforcement. This rally will focus on the unfulfilled promises to increase diversions from the jail lowering the number of people in the jail. The jail population in turn affects the sheriff’s budget. Invited speakers include: Rev Jerry Hancock (Prison Ministry Project), Linda Ketcham (Just Dane), Independent Police Monitor Aeiramique Glass, Alder Carmella Glenn and James Morgan (MOSES organizer).

George Washington Carver was one of America’s most innovative and creative scientist and inventors. Carver was born into slavery around 1860 in Missouri and died January 5, 1943 in Tuskegee, Alabama. As a botanist and inventor Carver created more than 100 products from the peanut including plastics, cosmetics, paints, nitroglycerin, gasoline and others.
