ACTION
- JOIN VOCES IN FIGHTING FOR IMMIGRANT & WORKER RIGHTS. Friday, May 2 at 3 pm, Brittingham Park. We will take to the streets on Friday, May 2, 2025, to participate in the Day Without Immigrants and Workers Rally at the Capitol. In the face of ongoing attacks, our response must be clear: unity, resistance, and dignity for our immigrant community. Join Voces in raising our voices in unity and continuing to demand dignity and justice for our communities. Want to march with us? Meet by the playground a little before 3pm to march with Families for Justice and Quakers. https://vdlf.org/may-day-2025/

- If you were unable to attend WISDOM’s Madison Action Day (or even if you did!) you can still make your voice heard about the issues. Review the attached issue paper and then send comments to the Joint Finance Committee about one or all of them: https://legis.wisconsin.gov/topics/budgetcomments/ Including personal stories is good, but make sure to begin with a strong statement about what you’re asking them to support.
- Families for Justice Citywide Yard Sale to pay down School Food Debt. Saturday, May 10, 9-4 pm, 515 Briar Hill Rd., Madison (53711). 100 percent of proceeds go toward paying down MMSD school lunch debt. We believe that every child has the right to healthy school food and a supportive learning environment. When the Black Panthers started providing free breakfast to school children in 1969, their efforts put pressure on political leaders to launch the federal School Breakfast Program. In 2023, thanks to the work of the Hunger Free School Meals campaign and activists like Valerie Castile, Minnesota passed a law for universal school lunch. We know that by working together, we can make every public school a place where all children can eat, learn, and thrive. Shop our sale, donate high-quality items or baked goods, or join this effort by organizing a sale in your own neighborhood! Questions? Want to volunteer in some way? Contact us at ffjdane@gmail.com.
