- The Center for Racial Justice offers this guide for being anti-racist, affirming and critical as we approach the holiday season. It contains many tools for educators and families, as well as resources that may resonate for people of all ages. https://centerracialjustice.org/resources/racial-justice-guide-holidayseason/
- Save the Date – Gathering Topic: Anti-Racism Query. December 28, 2025 9:45am Madison Monthly Meeting and Zoom. Several years ago, Madison Monthly Meeting adopted a practice of starting each Meeting for Business by reading an Anti-Racism Query. – How is Spirit leading us to consider the impact any decision made at the Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business may have on our goal for Madison Monthly Meeting to be an actively anti-racist community?” During this Forum, through Worship Sharing, we’ll revisit how alive the query is for us and reflect on the practice of the Anti-Racism query. Facilitated by Robin Lowney Lankton and Shel Gross.
ACTION
- Sharing a solidarity and action opportunity. Join Families for Justice, Indivisible, Budget Collective, Building Unity and other organizations December 5th, 1pm 310 E Knapp St, Downtown Milwaukee WI. We need YOU to join us in Milwaukee and STAND UP to ICE and tell them: ICE out of Wisconsin. ICE is conducting its operations out of 310 E Knapp, a building owned by MSOE. This contract is up in April – and Wisconsin needs to loudly and steadfastly say: END THE LEASE! We’re calling upon Wisconsinites – not just people from Milwaukee – to unite in showing that we’re willing to throw a wrench in ICE’s plans statewide as they plan to expand. A coalition of organizations from across the state has joined together to say: ICE out of Wisconsin, and we need YOU there! RSVP and invite three friends. Info and registration: http://actwis.co/
- Families for Justice Community Potluck Mutual Aid Event. Sunday, December 14, 3:30 – 6 pm. First Unitarian Society, 900 University Bay Dr. Madison WI. There will be age-appropriate learning around mutual aid as we put together over 100 care bags for people experiencing homelessness in Madison! We need your help (and hands) to help us build bags with socks, gloves, lip balm and more to distribute to local libraries and shelters. Bring yourself and/or your family (children of all ages welcome) and a dish to pass if you are able. We will supply all the materials for the bags, but suggest a $10-20 donation per family to give to a local organization supporting families experiencing homelessness. Register here: https://forms.gle/FQFkQrBCYe8kyWML7
- Literacy is Racial Justice; Become a Tutor: Fewer than half of Madison’s elementary school kids can read at grade level and the percentage is even worse for kids of color. Illiteracy impedes future success. Wisconsin students are now being taught to read using science-based, phonics-focused curriculum. But schools do not have the capacity to provide the one-on-one tutoring that some students still need. The new Wisconsin Literacy Justice Coalition (of which MOSES is a member) is hosting an informational event at the Goodman Community Center on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 2-4 PM where you can learn what it takes to become a trained, volunteer literacy tutor. Be part of the solution. For more information and to register: https://www.mosesmadison.org/wisconsin-literacy-justice-coalition-informational-event/
