Daniel’s presentation had an uplifting effect on those who watched it on June 1.

Handout from July 13 forum at Madison Friends Meeting

Daniel refers to “Team Democracy” – the players who fight against the rise of authoritarianism, and talks about nonviolent ways to oppose an authoritarian coup. These include institutions but also civil society.

Nonviolence is critical in order to avoid provoking violent response.

QUERIES:

  • As players in Team Democracy: What are we fighting for – not against? What do we want to build?
  • Team Democracy’s goals, strategies: What are your feelings when you think about non-cooperation? Fears? Excitement?
  • What can we do as Quakers? As a Meeting?
  • How can we support each other to do what we need to?
