Welcome new Resident Friend Andrea!

Andrea Grant began her duties as our new Resident Friend on September 1st. She handles administrative and property management duties for Meeting. “The opportunity to grow with and participate in the Quaker community is an exciting new chapter in my life,” she says.

A full-time Security Officer with the University Police, Andrea has AmeriCorps VISTA experience and was a Peace Corps volunteer in Armenia.

It is a great honor to serve as the Resident Friend among friends who share in the pursuit of truth, equality and peace. Furthermore, the opportunity to grow with and participate in the Quaker community is an exciting new chapter in my life.

Although I am new to the Quaker community my life has centered around service. I am currently working full time as Security Officer with the University Police and occasionally work as a Park Ranger for the City of Madison. I previously served as an AmeriCorps VISTA at UW-Extension Kenosha County, VISTA Leader at Washington Service Corps, and Peace Corps volunteer in Armenia.

Additionally, I have held several full time live-in positions including Team Leader with Wisconsin Conservation Corps, Overnight Caretaker for the Olympia Unitarian Universalist Congregation’s Out of the Woods Transitional Housing program, Worship Volunteer with Christian Ministry in the National Parks in Death Valley and House Mother at City of Refuge in Gardnerville, Nevada. I graduated with honors from Alverno College with a BA in Community Leadership and Development and worked for the YWCA in Milwaukee as a case manager.

I look forward to work together and get to know you as I learn the ins and outs of the Quaker community, worship and service.

With Patience and Gratitude

Resident Friend
